On 13th March, Director General of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs to Somaliland has arrived the Cabital City of Somaliland to bay a visit to the Port of Berbera and Berbera Free Zone, to visualise the the way their working process.
The Director General of Somaliland's Ministry of Trade and Tourism paid a warm wellcoming meeting to this Taiwan delegation in his office at Hargeisa.
The visit of Taiwan delegation to Somaliland, the D.G. of Somaliland's Ministry of Trade and Tourism, said on his LinkedIn Account, "The goal is to find out the opportunities of trade, investment, industerial cooporation and mining, oil and natural gas extraxtion."
He also mentioned, that Somaliland is ready to be the Taiwan's gateway to Africa by taking the advantage of Somaliland's strategic geopoletical location and modernized trade infrastructure, including Berbera Port and Berbera Ecconomic Zone.
As we previously know that Somaliland Government has given the investment agreement of Odweyne blocks to this Oil and Gas Investment Company, Genel Energ, for oil exploration and production.
Januery 8th of this year, Somaliland President has officially stated, "After a close investigation and consultation with international oil experts, we confirmmed that the black liquid that emerged in Salaxley borehole which was firstly drilled to extract water, is now oil borehole and its production will start soon."

Genel Energy has employed BGP Inc., an experienced company for crude oil exploraion, to carry out 2D Seismic Surveying in Odweyne blocks in order to know the estimation of Oil and Gas in these blocks.
In 2018 Genel Energy has announed that it found 2Billion barrels of Oild and Gas in Odweyne Blocks of Somaliland.

In addition to this, Genel Energy announed after this information it has signed an agreement of production to especialized Oil Production Company from Taiwan, to have the responsibility of Oil and Gas production in Odweyne blocks especially Salaxley.
It was this step that Genel Energy has taken towards production of oil in Somaliland as Salaxley is a region which is part of it's blocks (Odweyne Blocks).
This one of the reasons that Taiwan delegations has to discuss with Somaliland, as it has an interest in investment of Oil in Somaliland. One other reason for this visit is that Taiwan is also intersting for its products to reach Africa through the Port of Berbera as the D. G. of MoT&T of Somaliland stated, while also taking the advantage of Berbera Economic Zone and Berbera Corridor.

During this visit the deleģations have visited Laas Geel Paintings which occurs along the Berbera Corridor and near to the Da'ar Buduq District.
